Confirm your identity from the Instagram app to get back to your Account. If you are facing this error, don’t worry as it is one of the most common Instagram errors. It is not an error, it is a security layer to protect your account from Hackers.
Once your account is locked, you will get the following message:
Confirm your Info on the App to Get Back to your Account.
We noticed unusual activity from your Account. Confirm your identity from the Instagram app to get back to your account.
This problem can be fixed by taking a video selfie and for most users, it gets unlocked almost immediately.
Reasons for confirm your info error
The most common reason is that you have liked or you are using third-party software.
Never do that.
These types of applications use automated bots. If you are using any tools for automatic post-like, follow-unfollow other users etc., there is a high possibility that your account will be flagged.
Even if you are using paid services, try not to use these. In the worst case, your account will be banned permanently.
In some cases, Instagram may flag your account for any aggressive actions e.g. if you are like/unlike posts continuously or if you are following-unfollowing people continuously.
Once your account is blocked, you need to verify that you are a human, not a bot. Instagram uses video verification to verify if the account is being used by a human, not by any bot or scripts. In the next step, I will show you how to do the video verification with your Instagram app.
Video selfie:
Instagram uses video selfie to confirm that this account is used by a human, not by any bot. Once you open the app, it will guide you through the steps to record and upload the selfie video. This is similar to unlocking your phone with face detection. The only difference is that Instagram will use the video to verify if you are a human or not and unlock your account immediately or in a few days.
It will show you a screen with the following message:
Take a Video Selfie We need a short video of you turning your head in different directions. This helps us confirm that you’re a real person and confirm your identity.
You will also see one message that this video will be deleted automatically in 30 days:
This video will never be visible on Instagram and will be deleted within 30 days. This won’t use face recognition or biometric data
So, you don’t have to worry about the video. It will not be used for anything else and it will not be uploaded on Instagram. Even, this video will be deleted within 30 days.
Click on the Next button to move to the next page.
Take the video:
Once you click on the Next button, it will open one new screen to guide you how to take the video:
Hold your phone at Eye level We’ll guide you through some simple head movements, which should take less than a minute to complete.
It verifies if you are human or not and most probably, it uses automatic face recognition software for that. So, make sure that you are following the steps as per the guide.
Hold the phone with font facing camera at your eye level and click on next.
Allow camera Access:
If you haven’t recorded any videos or photos or if you have reinstalled the Instagram app, you need to give camera access to start the recording. It will show the below message with a button:
Camera Access To take a video selfie, please give Instagram access to your camera.
Click on the Allow button and give the camera permission to start the video recording.
Follow the steps as shown:
Follow the steps as shown in the Instagram video selfie window. It will ask you to :
- Turn you head to the left
- Turn your head to the right
- Slowly tilt your head upward
- Slowly turn your head to the right and left again
Make sure to hold the phone at eye level and your face is visible completely in the circle.
Submit the video:
Once the video selfie is done, it will show one selfie complete page with a Submit button.
Video selfie complete Thanks for completing this steps. Submit this video to help us confirm you’re a real person and confirm your identity.
If you are getting this page, you can click on the Submit button to submit the video or upload the video for verification.
Once the verification is done, you will be able to access your account.
Instagram app is crashing on recording video:
If your Instagram app is crashing or not working while uploading the video, you will get error popups like below:
- An error occurred while uploading, please try again.
- Video upload failed. Please try again later.
These are common errors.
- Check your internet connection. If your internet connection is slow, it will fail to upload.
- If your Instagram app is crashing while recording the video, uninstall it and install it again from the PlayStore or AppStore. You can also try to run it on a different phone.
Some users have mentioned that it worked after they waited for 12 to 72 hours. You can try it. To be on the safe side, try to upload the video again after 72 hours.
You can also try from your phone browser or from your laptop browser.
If you have any apps installed to work with your Instagram, uninstall all. For example, don’t use any applications like automatic follow, automatic unfollow, check all your un-followers, secret profile viewers etc. As I have mentioned above, these types of apps uses bots and Instagram will ban your account permanently.
To make your profile more secure, link your Instagram account with Facebook. Also,
- Enable two-factor Authentication. Enabling two-factor Authentication will require you to enter an OTP if you are trying to log-in from a new device. This OTP will be sent to your WhatsApp or as a Text message.
- Keep your phone number and email address updated. If you changed your phone number, update it on both Facebook and Instagram.
Following best practices will help you to keep your account safe and it also helps to recover accounts quickly.
